The Comant CI 2580-200 ComDat VHF / GPS WAAS Antenna is a dual-function antenna designed to support both VHF communications and GPS reception within a single, compact radome. By combining these functions, the CI 2580-200 helps reduce antenna count and installation complexity while maintaining high RF performance.
The antenna supports the standard VHF communications band from 118 to 137 MHz along with GPS L1 reception at 1575.42 MHz. With a GPS gain of 26.5 dB, it is suitable for use with WAAS-capable GPS navigation systems and is commonly paired with Garmin panel-mounted GPS receivers designed for high-gain antenna inputs.
Comant’s patented ComDat technology provides approximately 80 dB of VHF harmonic suppression, allowing both VHF and GPS elements to coexist within a single antenna housing without the need for in-line RF filters. This design helps preserve GPS signal integrity while supporting simultaneous VHF transmission and reception.
The CI 2580-200 features a teardrop-style radome footprint commonly found on general aviation aircraft and business jets, making it a suitable replacement or upgrade option for existing installations. The antenna has been tested to RTCA DO-160 environmental standards, including direct effects lightning testing, demonstrating durability in demanding aircraft operating environments.
When installed in accordance with applicable aircraft approval data and avionics manufacturer requirements, the CI 2580-200 provides reliable VHF communications and GPS signal reception suitable for use with WAAS-enabled navigation systems capable of supporting all phases of flight, including LPV approaches.
