The ARTEX ELT 345 Slim Kit is a dual-frequency, automatic fixed (AF) emergency locator transmitter designed to provide rapid and accurate distress alerting for general aviation and experimental aircraft. It transmits on both 406 MHz and 121.5 MHz, ensuring global satellite detection and local homing capability for search and rescue operations.
The ELT 345 may be activated either manually via the cockpit remote switch or automatically by an internal G-switch that detects an impact of 2.3 G or greater. Upon activation, the ELT transmits a 406 MHz digital distress signal containing the beacon’s unique registration information via the Cospas-Sarsat satellite system. A simultaneous 121.5 MHz signal is transmitted to support local search and rescue homing.
The ELT 345 includes a built-in GPS navigational interface capable of receiving position data from an optional external GPS source. When connected, GPS coordinates are embedded in the first emergency transmission, allowing search and rescue authorities to locate the aircraft within approximately 100 meters, typically in under one minute. The GPS interface operates independently of aircraft power, helping reduce installation complexity and cost.
Designed for both first-time installations and retrofits, the ELT 345 supports flexible mounting options and uses a single RF output and coaxial cable to transmit both 406 MHz and 121.5 MHz signals through a single antenna. The supplied stainless steel mounting bracket features multiple hole patterns to accommodate legacy ARTEX, ACK, Kannad, and AmeriKing ELT footprints.
The ELT 345 Slim Kit includes a 15-inch black whip antenna, slim-line two-wire remote switch, buzzer, mounting tray, a 6-foot BNC-to-BNC coax cable, and a complete installation kit. The system supports a standard 9600 baud data rate unless otherwise specified.
